Sometimes using tools to help administer and organize our time thoughts and interactions is critical to achieve an innovation culture.

Idea management software systems tailored for innovation is perhaps one of the great innovation tools of our lifetime. They help gather people into virtual 'invention' rooms to discuss challenges and solutions to these challenges. The back ends of these systems help isolate the best ideas that need to be pursued and also help catalog the lessons learned during the invention and development processes.

There are several major software vendors: Imaginatik, Brainbank Inc, Kindling, Incent Solutions (my company), Hype, JPB, and the list goes on. Everyone has different methodologies but all work great at expediting the innovation process and more importantly, making time for idea development.

George Rathbun
iDS Idea Management Software

Comment on Business Model Innovation...

Good article and thanks to share. you have bunch of information.hope old tradition would be finished.

Comment on What is Incubation?

I always feel great when I find the blog useful for and it takes place in my collection. I'd like to add a few additional thoughts. 1. To co-exist effectively, the dominate culture in the organization MUST support Innovation (freedom, trust, risk-taking, etc...) Innovation doesn't prosper in an R&D ghetto.
2. "Innovation focuses to much on ideas not implementation..." Yes, this is an all to common misconception. A sustainable and high impact innovation system must proactively push for creative insight and ideas not only in the front-end but in ALL phases of bringing a product to market.
3. In my experience, Lean/SixSig programs under-perform, even with their well documented impact. These programs with their laser focus and lack of creativity are missing to many opportunities. Integrating proactive creativity throughout the Lean/sixsig processes would boost results and make it easier to co-exist with Innovation. Currently working on a White paper on this topic with some sample models.

Thoughts?

Comment on Innovation Management Is A Business Discipline...

Great site.
