2008 PDMA International Conference - Day 1 - Afternoon Session

Well...the afternoon was just what I had hoped for...real-world examples from great innovation leaders!!!

After the great morning session, a networking break and a decent lunch, the conference broke out into more focused sections.  There was a "Tools" section, a "Hot Topics" section, an "Inside the Guru's Studio" section and really intimate "Guru Roundtables."

While the intimacy of the roundtables sounded great, I really wanted to hear from Matt Calman of Bank of America on how they launched and currently maintain an Innovation Lab within the normally conservative financial services industry.  A few of my clients are financial services organizations so it was great to hear about some promising new approaches we can take to get funding, gather outside interest, spark inside interest and drum up additional leadership support.

I stayed within the Inside the Guru's Studio track to hear from Adam Nash of LinkedIn.  You know how much I LOVE LinkedIn and the networking, Q&A and discussion opportunities.  He spoke about building a great product-focused organization using the tools available within the Web 2.0.

After that...I have to be honest...I snuck off to the Magic Kingdom.  Again, if you've followed this blog long, you know I absolutely adore the Disney organization, especially Walt Disney World.  How can you honestly expect me to be three monorail stops away and not partake in the magic?!?!?  You can't...period!

I found out today that next year's PDMA International Conference is going to be at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.  Hmmmm......

Until tomorrow.....
